From the start of the project, the city of Ostend integrated the yearly tradition of Heritage Day into the MOW Project. Doing so, the opportunity was offered to make the project known to a large and diverse audience and to invite people to discuss the aims and results in a natural and spontaneous manner.
It also illustrates that the municipality has a tradition of embracing participation.
Siegfried Vynck contributes to the Heritage Day programme by confronting the audience with both today’s waterfront aspects and the specific issues of post industrial waterfront heritage on Oosteroever. Siegfried Vynck used inspiration from the citylab methodology succesfully on a micro scale during heritage day, using the input from passers-by for his paintings.
